Our Beautiful Baby Girl is here! Welcome Sydnie!

It was 4:00. Wednesday April 20th. I was sitting at my desk at work, being entirely frustrated that I was still pregnant ( I was due April 19th) I worked out during my lunch at our onsite gym, hoping it would trigger some contractions, even though I'd worked out nearly every day of my pregnancy.

Suddenly, I felt a jab of pain, unlike any I'd felt before. I thought, "hey maybe this is a contraction!" Well I had a few more thru out the night, nothing too intense, so I just brushed it off, and was accepting the fact that I'd probably have to wait to be induced a week after my due date. We went on a jog/walk before going to bed about 10:00 pm. I had been spotting a little bit that evening, but just assumed that was a normal part of pregnancy at this point, so I didn't think much of it. Well midnight hit, and I started having the contractions every 10 minutes, super painful, and it seemed like they were getting really close together really fast. By 2:00 they were 6-7 minutes apart, but I kept convincing myself I wasn't in labor. Well, by 3 it was so bad I could hardly handle it. I took a bath. Timed them, and they were 3-4 minutes apart. I decided it was time to go! Woke Dave up, and we arrived to the hospital on at 4:30 am on April 21st. They wouldn't officially check me in, until they "confirmed" I was in labor, so for another hour, they made me sit and wait with painful contractions coming every 3 minutes while they would check me for progress. Within an hour I went from a 2 to almost a 5 so they checked me in, and got me an epideral RIGHT away. Thank you for modern medicine! THANK YOU! I was terrified of epideral, but it was not bad at all, and at that point I would have taken anything over that pain.

About 8 my doctor came in, got ready to break my water & said "hopefully we will have a baby before lunch!" After she broke my water, her & the nurse suddenly got really quiet & looked concerned, and doctor said "that is a lot of blood, we need to watch her really close" and told me not to worry, it could be nothing, but they were going to put internal monitors on the baby & watch closely. Well, they put the internal monitors on the baby. Her heart rate shot up to 190's. Then they said there was more blood, and doctors came in and said we had to rush into C-section right away. Gave Dave his scrubs, and they literally were running pushing my bed into the OR. Once we got there, they gave my stronger medication for numbing, where it was the MOST disgusting feeling in the world. I was paralyzed from the ribs down. It gave me such anxiety, between that & being rushed in there, I was so beyond freaked out. I could not calm down, I just kept telling myself... Breath. Kristen Breath. You're going to be fine. Within 10 minutes Sydnie Anne Geurts was born-- & we are so blessed that she was born HEALTHY. She had blood in her tummy that had to be sucked out several times. But we are so lucky she didn't breath any in. My doctor later told me, we literally got her out just in time. I had what is called a placenta abruption & the next day my Doc told me how serious it was, and can be, and how a lot of the times babies don't make it. It makes me cry every time I think about how blessed I am to have my precious little angel.

She was 7 lbs 8 oz

21 inches

Big feet & Hands!

And... absolutely PERFECT in every way.
We don't know where this tall girl came from! Both Dave & I are short, and we both have very small feet & hands. She is adorable. The light of my life. I seriously can't imagine my life ever being without her, and it's only been a week. I love her so much it hurts. I just sit & stare at her for hours. I love her more than words can ever express.

Anyway, that's the long story.

I get emotional everytime I watch the video of her being born, of her first bath, & all other events at the hospital. It was truly a miraculous experience having a baby, and I am so greatful that I was able to have her & that she is healthy! She is my life, my everything. I love you baby, sooo much it hurts!

I have a billion pictures to post, but someone is screaming because they are hungry... so I will post more updates later!

Here are some pictures of the event.

Scary! I had no idea that was how she was born. I knew it was a c-section but did not realize it was an emergency one. Thank goodness she is here and you are both safe and well. I am so happy for you!
